2. Overview of data processing
Radiowecker is an iOS app that turns your iPhone into a radio alarm clock. The app processes the following data – locally only:
| Data | Storage location | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Alarms (name, alarm time, repeat, audio source, volume, snooze) | Device (UserDefaults / App Group) | Alarm function and widget display |
| Settings (language, fallback sound, sleep timer, night light, turn off screen) | Device (UserDefaults) | App configuration |
| Selected radio stations and Apple Music selections | Device (UserDefaults) | Playback of alarm sound and sleep timer |
| Purchase status of the full version | Device (App Group) / Apple App Store | Unlocking full version features |
No user accounts are created and no data is stored on the developer's servers – the developer does not operate any servers of their own.
3. Network access
For its core features, the app accesses the following services. As with any internet access, your IP address is necessarily transmitted to the respective service:
- Radio Browser directory (radio-browser.info): When you search for stations, your search term or the selected country or genre is sent to the freely accessible station directory radio-browser.info to find matching stations. No other personal data is transmitted.
- Radio streams: When a station is played, the app connects directly to the streaming server of the respective broadcaster. The broadcaster is responsible for any data processing on their side.
- iTunes Search (Apple): To display the album cover of the song currently playing, the artist and title of the song are sent to Apple's public iTunes Search API. This information comes from the radio stream's metadata and contains no information about you.
4. Apple Music (MusicKit)
If you choose a song or playlist from Apple Music as an alarm sound or for the sleep timer, the app accesses your Apple Music library with your explicit permission. The following applies:
- Access takes place via Apple's MusicKit framework and solely for selecting and playing music.
- The app does not read or store any other library content.
- Data processing by Apple is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
- You can revoke this permission at any time in the iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music.
5. In-app purchase (full version)
The full version is sold as a one-time in-app purchase via the Apple App Store. All payment processing is handled by Apple; the developer receives no payment data (e.g. credit card numbers) and no identity data from you. The app only stores the purchase status ("full version unlocked: yes/no") locally. Apple's privacy terms apply.
6. Notifications
Radiowecker uses local notifications to wake you up or remind you at alarm time. These notifications are created and scheduled entirely on your device – no server is involved. You can revoke the permission at any time in the iOS Settings.
7. Night light (flashlight)
The night light feature controls only your iPhone's LED flashlight. The camera is not accessed, no photos or videos are taken and no image data is processed.
8. Widgets
Radiowecker offers widgets for the Home Screen and Lock Screen. To show your next alarm in the widget, alarm data is shared between the app and the widget extension via an App Group (shared storage area). This storage area is located exclusively on your device and can only be accessed by Radiowecker.
9. Siri & Shortcuts
The app provides App Intents for Apple's Shortcuts app (e.g. "Radiowecker abspielen" to play the alarm and "Einschlaftimer starten" to start the sleep timer). They run locally on your device. Apple is responsible for processing voice commands through Siri.
10. No tracking or analytics services
Radiowecker uses no:
- Analytics or tracking tools (no Google Analytics, Firebase or similar)
- Ad networks
- Third-party crash reporting services
- Cookies or fingerprinting technologies
11. Sharing data with third parties
No personal data is shared with third parties. Radiowecker does not sell, rent or share user data. The technically necessary access to Apple services, the Radio Browser directory and radio stream servers described in sections 3 to 5 takes place solely to provide the app's features.
12. Data storage and deletion
All data is stored locally on your device. You can delete your data at any time:
- In the app: delete alarms individually, reset settings.
- By uninstalling: when you delete the app, all stored data is removed automatically. The purchase status of the full version remains linked to your Apple Account at Apple and can be restored at any time.
13. Your rights (GDPR)
Since no personal data is transmitted to me, I hold no data about you. All data is located exclusively on your device and is under your control. In principle, you have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at any time.
14. Children
Radiowecker is not specifically directed at children. The app does not knowingly collect any data from children.
15. Changes to this privacy policy
